Steam button shortcuts on the Steam Deck

Not many people know that the Steam button on the Deck can also acts as a modifier key for some super handy shortcuts in console mode. Here’s the complete list, but you can also press and hold either the Steam button or the · · · button to reveal the list on the fly.

Force Game Shutdown with Steam Button plus B Button
Steam + B (long press) – Force Game Shutdown
Show or Hide Keyboard with Steam Button plus X Button
Steam + X – Show and Hide the Keyboard
Toggle Magnifier with Steam Button plus Left Bumper
Steam + L1 – Toggle the Magnifier
Take Screenshot with Steam Button plus Right Bumper
Steam + R1 – Take a Screenshot
Right Mouse Click with Steam Button plus Left Trigger
Steam + L2 – Perform a right mouse click
Left Mouse Click with Steam Button plus Right Trigger
Steam + R2 – Perform a left mouse click
Use Mouse with Steam Button plus Right Trackpad
Steam + R Touch Pad – Use as touch pad mouse.
Joystick as Mouse with Steam Button plus Right Joystick

These shortcuts are super helpful when navigating supported and unsupported titles on the Deck. My personal favorite is Steam + Left DPad. Having access to the escape key is a life saver. The runner up is defiantly Steam + B. No one wants to have to restart the whole system if a unsupported game doesn’t behave. Let us know what your favorite is.
