Some Great FPS that run on Linux and Steam Deck
Arma 3
ProtonDB Rating: Gold
Steam Deck: Unsupported
“A significant step forward for the king of military simulation… Arma 3 is an unparalleled war story generator.”
84/100 – PC Gamer
While Arma 3 is technically unsupported on the Steam Deck due to BattlEye, it is definitely playable! Thanks to other launchers like the Arma3 Unix Launcher by muttleyxd, you can enjoy the full, immersive Arma experience on Linux. Make sure that you install with Proton though, or you may have more issues.
DayZ
ProtonDB Rating: Gold
Steam Deck: Unsupported
Many zombies. Such military. Very open. 7/10 paws.
Critiquing Dog
DayZ is another game that is “unsupported” on the Steam Deck thanks to BattlEye, but in our experience, it is definitely playable!
Insurgency: Sandstorm
ProtonDB Rating: Silver
Steam Deck: Unsupported
“If ever there was an example of outstanding FPS gunplay, Insurgency: Sandstorm is surely it”
8.8/10 – IGN
Despite being unsupported, Insurgency: Sandstorm has excellent feedback from ProtonDB users! I’ve run into two issues after install, first that it occasionally won’t launch so you have to give it a few times and intermittently EAC will give a warning and you have to relaunch the game. Either way, I’ve racked up over 500 hours in the game, so it may be temperamental but it’s worth the bugs.
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
ProtonDB Rating: Native
Steam Deck: Playable
Includes intense violence and blood.
Mature Content Description
CS:GO is exactly what you want from CS:GO, and runs perfectly out of the box.
Star Wars: Battlefront II
ProtonDB Rating: Gold
Steam Deck: Playable
Star Wars: Battlefront II is labeled as Playable by valve, and it has honestly shocked me how well this EA game runs on Proton.
Battlefield V
ProtonDB Rating: Gold
Steam Deck: Playable
If you enjoy Battlefield V, it runs excellently on Linux! There are definitely some readability issues but it has achieved a “playable” rating on the Steam Deck.
